We are looking to recruit a Trainee Clinical Endoscopist, to join our current team of four Clinical Endoscopists.

You would undertake your training over a period of 12 months and once achieved all required competencies, you would be responsible for your own endoscopy lists.


Endoscopic procedures, traditionally carried out by doctors, are being performed increasingly by nurses and other non-medical registered practitioners known as clinical endoscopists (CEs) or previously known as non-medical endoscopists (NMEs).

The training programme is designed to train appropriate registered healthcare professionals (NMC Adult Nurses and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered) or Physician Associates on the Managed Voluntary register to perform safe diagnostic procedures in Endoscopy.


Once qualified you will manage a defined caseload of patients and be carrying out up to 8 endoscopy sessions per week across 3/4 days, working flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

The post-holder will train to become part of the team responsible for the efficient and effective provision of the Non-Medical endoscopy service.

They will work with the MDT to ensure the development, management and delivery of a high quality general and specialist endoscopy provision.


The post holder will perform diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopic procedures, in accordance with defined protocols and following completion of the SEETA training programme.

Working with their supervising clinician, the post holder will identify the need for and request, further investigations as appropriate and advise on further investigations as required.

The post holder will support all clinicians working within the specialty area and work closely with the existing compliment of Non-Medical Endoscopists and the Service Manager on service strategy and development.


The post holder be expected to return a minimum of 3 years' service to RSFT as a Non-Medical Endoscopist upon successful completion of training.

Failure to do this will result in the repayment of all training fees.
