Hours of work:
An average of 37.

5 hours per week over the year:
Term Time (34 weeks)
  • Monday to Friday
, 8.00am to 5.00pm (with half an hour unpaid lunch). Occasional Saturday mornings may be required for which time off in lieu will be given. Hours to be confirmed at interview.


School Holidays (18 weeks) - Monday to Thursday, 9.00am and 3.30pm (with half an hour unpaid lunch), Friday 9.00am to 1.

St Peter's School, York, is a dynamic, forward-looking HMC independent school for day and boarding pupils based a few minutes' walk from the historic centre of York.


The overall responsibility of this role is to provide confidential administrative support to the School whilst ensuring that the highest standards of customer service are delivered at all times.

The Senior School Administrator will ensure all enquiries from staff, children, parents/carers, governors and external agencies are dealt with efficiently.


Absolute discretion and personal integrity are of paramount importance given the access to often sensitive and confidential information, as is remaining calm, discrete and professional, even when under pressure, in order to make good decisions.

Work must be prioritised in line with the School's priorities.


The Senior School Administrator must be able to work autonomously in maintaining the smooth running of the School office, and provide an excellent working environment to ensure a warm, friendly and welcoming approach to the School community and those visiting.


Current experience of working in a senior administrative role within a busy office or similar environment together with an excellent standard of literacy and numeracy (Minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent) is essential.
