Job summary:
The Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM) provides medical support to military operational deployments and specialist care for members of the armed forces.
We are looking for a Pathology Blood Logistics Officer (Administrative Officer) to work within the Centre of Defence (CD) Pathology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) team to enable the defence blood establishment to deliver blood components to overseas bases, exercises, and operations.
Job description:
- The successful post holder will support the blood establishment to deliver blood logistic service for defence and maintain accurate records
Person specification:
Main details of the role include but are not limited to:
- Receive and process blood shipment requests.
- Engage with the defence logistic partners to assist the logistic / blood supply plan.
b. Complete Airway Bills and book shipments on to flights
c. Liaise with authorised holders to ensure receipt of shipments
d. Familiarisation with standard operating procedures and processes relating to blood logistics.
- Order blood from National Health Service Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) depot using Online Blood Ordering System.
b. Set up and prepare shipment monitoring devices
c. Monitor, and maintain sufficient, shipment boxes and consumables
d. Liaise with NHSBT staff to ensure service is maintained

Selection process details:
