Are you looking to begin your career as a Speech and Language Therapist working with adults with acquired disorders in acute and community settings? Or to further develop your existing skills within this area?

We have an opportunity for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to work within our team at Scunthorpe.

This post will give you the opportunity to work as part of our acute and community stroke team as well as provide input to more general caseloads with acute and community patients.

The caseload will involve rehabilitation for both swallowing and communication, therefore supervision and training towards the treatment of dysphagia will be offered.


The applicant will need to have access to transport and the ability to safely transport yourself and equipment around the required geographical area during the course of their working day.


To provide a high standard of Speech and Language Therapy service undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.


To work as a member of the Speech and Language Therapy team to provide a comprehensive therapeutic service for inpatients and outpatients.

To manage a defined caseload of patients using evidence-based/patient-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, including discharge planning and facilitation.

To participate in providing a specialist service comprising assessment, management and treatment, to adults with disorders of communication.

To participate in providing a specialist service comprising assessment, management and treatment, to adults with disorders of feeding and swallowing, when post-basic dysphagia level competencies have been reached.
