Head of UK Tax to join our
Finance Leadership Team

About the role


You will lead an intimate team of 5 colleagues (3 tax managers, 1 tax analyst and 1 insurance manager), providing inspirational leadership as a people manager, member of the Finance Leadership Team and senior leader within HEINEKEN UK.

You will manage and optimise the tax and insurance positions of the HEINEKEN UK group, advising colleagues across the business on tax and insurance matters and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and internal controls.

You'll act as HUK's first point of contact with UK tax authorities and work closely with our wider Global Tax department.

So what will you be doing? Here's some of the key responsibilities.

  • Own the UK and international tax and insurance activities of HEINEKEN UK to mitigate risk, optimise savings, and maintain compliance for HEINEKEN.
  • Responsible for maintaining HEINEKEN UK's relationships with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) across all taxes, to ensure that all interactions with the tax authorities take place on a real time, transparent and collaborative basis as set out in HEINEKEN's Global and UK tax strategies.
  • Responsible for provision of proactive business partnering on tax and insurance matters to HEINEKEN UK colleagues, either directly or through effective management of UK Tax & Insurance team.
  • Lead and motivate a team of diverse individuals to optimise performance and impact on the business, ensuring clear line of sight between the deliverables and how these support HUK business challenges and opportunities.
  • Member of the Finance Function Leadership Team, playing a key role as a member of that team in leading and driving the performance of the function and the business overall.
  • Responsible for tax input and approval on UK acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations including legal entity reduction. Activities include negotiation with counter parties, instructing lawyers, accountants and tax advisors, and critically appraising advice given, reviewing, amending, and negotiating documentation and responding to change as the project evolves.

Who we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced team manager with extensive experience in all types of UK Tax.

You'll have excellent communication skills and be able to translate complex topics into easy to digest information for various groups of stakeholders.

If you;

  • Are a qualified accountant or chartered tax advisor
  • Have extensive UK tax compliance and advisory experience (experience of working in an inhouse tax department would be advantageous)
  • Have excellent working knowledge of UK and international accounting standards and tax accounting
  • Are experienced in managing teams with direct people manager responsibility
  • Possess values that align with our HUK Tax Strategy
