The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) brings together the local authorities of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield and to serve the communities and businesses of South Yorkshire.
We are currently seeking a Democratic Services Officer to provide a comprehensive and efficient support and advisory service in relation to the MCA's democratic services function, ensuring the MCA is effectively able to meet its regulatory obligations in relation to its decision-making processes

Key Responsibilities
Attending MCA meetings, advising leaders on meeting operations.
Providing administrative support for decision-making processes, including scheduling, preparing materials, taking notes, and managing records.
Offering general advice to MCA officers and members on governance issues.
Maintaining document management systems in compliance with regulations.
Conducting research and providing briefing notes to support decision-making.
Assisting in operational planning for the Democratic Services team.
Providing guidance on the MCA Constitution and relevant legislation.
Coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely sharing of information.
Reporting issues to management for action.
Fulfilling any other duties assigned by management

Previous Experience:
Work in Democratic Services, meeting administration, and collaboration with elected members.
Skills:
Excellent communication, relationship-building, time management, tact, diplomacy, and teamwork.
