SSOW / PTW Coordinator - Hertfordshire (Site Based)
Wood Process & Energy are seeking a

SSOW / PTW Coordinator within the HSSE and Construction teams to provide execution of the HSSE function as a Permit Coordinator / Issuing Authority during the Construction / Pre-Commissioning / Commissioning for an initial duration of around 12 months at our client manufacturing facility in Royston.


The opportunity requires experience working on small to medium scale EPC / EPCm projects within the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical/Process industry, preferably with PGM chemicals, catalysts, Life Sciences or GMP facilities experience able to coordinate the activities of the construction team and assigned contractors and engineers within their assigned areas.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Familiarity with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 201
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Health and Safety at Work etc Act 197
  • Auditing, Surveillance and monitoring adherence to the approved Construction Phase HSE Plan
  • Acting as project Point of Contact for all PTW, develop and maintain a Project PTW Register and tracking system
  • Investigates and gathers evidence and prepares reports on PTW violation compliance and Safety /Environmental Incidents, to determine the cause of incidents and to avoid future incidents
  • Prepares and maintains reports, audits, inspections, investigations, files, and written correspondence on all PTW matters
  • Provides the resolution of technical questions arising in this area of specialty
  • Provides PTW direction to project personnel, contractors and subcontractors engaged during the project execution
  • Monitors project work activities to ensure support of project PTW milestones
  • Performs duties as assigned to support the Construction Management Team
  • Conduct regular (daily) audit and surveillance monitoring for compliance to the Project PTW procedure throughout the project execution
  • Surveillance and monitoring adherence in the use of Field Level Risk Assessment or POWRA for the activities under the issued PTW
  • Familiarity with the HAZCON (Hazards in Construction) process and constructability reviews
  • Participation in Construction RAMS review and approval and the associated Wood PEER review process
  • Review and coordination of construction activities including Management of Lifting Operations and compliance to Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
  • Interface with project construction, commissioning, operations, contractor, and vendor personnel
  • Ensure that a smooth transition occurs from construction to commissioning
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with Project HSE expectations. Take a positive role in HSE leadership and participate in construction team and contractors HSE activities
  • Work closely with the client Operations Team during the introduction of the Operational Control of Work System to ensure safe and controlled transition from the Construction/Commissioning PTW system to the Operational Control of Work System
  • Report on any incident as per Wood and Project requirements
  • Liaise with project team to provide an effective interface to facilitate resolution of any issues encountered
  • Participation in the daily coordination meetings, regular interface meeting, weekly progress (and other adhoc) meetings as required to ensure effective communications

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role with experience of working within a process plant or petrochemical or chemicals manufacturing facility
  • Experience of EPC or EPCm projects
  • Educated to NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is preferred
  • A good knowledge and experience in the management of simultaneous operations is essential
  • Experience in execution of Construction, Precommissioning, Completions, Preservation and associated Safety Management systems
