Ipswich is a town with a rich heritage and an exciting future. As a regional centre, we play a vital role in Suffolk's economic success. This is the perfect time to join us.

We have developed a new corporate strategy and operating model that maximises the many opportunities available to us and defines our core purpose to champion our community and revitalise our town.

We are excited about our future - where we are proud to champion our communities and revitalise our town. As Assistant Director, Governance you will also be our Monitoring Officer.

You'll be at the heart of decision-making, providing strategic legal advice to both members and senior officers and supporting colleagues to identify and implement innovative solutions and transformation.

This is your opportunity to shine and share our pride in Ipswich.

As a member of the Corporate Management Team that drives the case for transformation and change, you will ensure that the council has excellent governance, sound decision making and compliance.

That means working closely with colleagues to enable the delivery of our new corporate strategy.

Your role as lead legal advisor to the council will give you scope to contribute broadly and significantly, providing clear and practical legal advice and support and enabling our major projects to succeed.

You will lead and manage the Audit and Fraud Team and Legal and Democratic Services, which includes Land Charges and Elections, at an important time as we seek to build on the investment already made in the town and secure the financial sustainability of the council.

You and your team will have a crucial role in ensuring effective governance that helps us capitalise on our many opportunities and maintain the pride employees, businesses and residents have in the county town of Suffolk.
