Trainee Environmental Consultant

4R Group are an award-winning group of companies whose core business activities are environmental consultancy (4R Environmental Consultants), industry by-product recycling (4R Recycling) and farm advisory services (4R Reassurance).

Due to continuous growth and our desire to 'grow our own' we are recruiting for a Trainee Environmental Consultant.

You will assist 4R colleagues with a wide variety of environmental projects involving the recycling of by-products for beneficial use and ecological benefit in agriculture.

You might be working with a small-scale farmer one week and the next on a major project for one of our clients who include public bodies and internationally recognised companies.

Initially we will continue your development to get you up to speed with the current regulatory processes, industry standards and practices which are required to deliver our contracts.

Field based work will include collection of environmental samples, mapping, visiting farms and production facilities.

You'll also assist in bioassays and recycling experiments and writing reports where required, as well as assisting the operations team with soil sampling, deployments and nutrient management plans.

You may also find yourself helping with our business development activities such as attending exhibitions or shows or gathering data for tenders.

The role has a lot of variety with a hybrid location as you be visiting and working on client sites across the UK as well as either of our two main office locations in Knottingley, Yorkshire or Newent, Gloucestershire - the remainder can be done from home if you choose to do so.

We'll give you access to a company vehicle for your field based work.

We will help you with developing your career and obtaining further industry recognised qualification such as FACTS which will broaden your skill set to do a wide range of consulting work as you grow with us.

Who we want.

The trainee environmental consultant will be someone at the start of their career:

either a B Sc graduate in Agricultural, Environmental, Soil or Plant Sciences or
HND/Foundation Degree in Agriculture with some equivalent experience

- a basic understanding of the environmental issues affecting soils and/or principles of crop rotation
- it would be advantageous though not essential if you have at least one years' practical experience within the agricultural/environmental sectors in the UK - whether thats through living/working on a farm or a college/university placement
- ability to undertake data analysis and prepare technical reports
- willingness and capability to conduct practical field work across the UK
- full driving licence and permanent right to work in UK.
