The Purchase Ledger Clerk will be responsible for purchase ledger duties including dealing with queries in relation to invoicing, inputting data in to a bespoke system, reconciling accounts and general ad hoc administration duties.


The Post Holder will provide administration support in the Accounts Department, reporting directly to the Finance Manager and working alongside two other team members.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Running the purchase ledger function for two branches.
  • Collation of supplier invoices, coding appropriately and directing to relevant member of staff for authorisation (matching, checking and coding invoices).
  • Scanning and attaching documentation on to our bespoke system.
  • Post authorised invoices on to our bespoke system and arranging for payment to be made within the required timescales.
  • Dealing with supplier queries in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
  • Answering the telephone for all incoming external calls to the department.
  • Assisting with monthly supplier payment runs and allocation of payments against supplier accounts.
  • Setting up of new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details.
  • General administration support across the finance team and any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Finance Manager.

Person Specification:


  • AAT or equivalent (Desirable).
  • A minimum of two years' experience working in a busy accounts department.
  • Recent accounts administration experience and good computer skills.
  • Be able to communicate confidently both in person and by telephone.
  • The ability to work both independently and with direction is a necessity.

Schedule

  • 37.5hour week, Monday to Friday to be worked between 8.00am 5.00pm, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch. Times can be discussed and agreed at interview.
