Derbyshire County Council is seeking an
Assistant Director (Property Management) to lead our Property Management functions, overseeing the implementation of asset management strategies and supporting the Director of Corporate Property in operational and strategic management ensuring the development and delivery of effective, efficient, and responsive management of our property portfolio
to meet the needs of the council, its users, and the people of Derbyshire.

As Assistant Director (Property Management), you'll be at the forefront of our mission to ensure the Council's land and buildings portfolio is fit for purpose, safe, compliant, and cost-effective, supporting service departments in delivering their mandates efficiently.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the Property Management Team in preparing, reviewing, and implementing the Council's Asset Management strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Transform our property portfolio into a powerhouse of efficiency, safety, and compliance, empowering our service departments to excel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that not only save costs but also reduce our carbon footprint and enhance flexibility.
  • Uphold the highest standards of governance and compliance, managing risks and finances with precision.
  • Spearhead strategic and operational facilities management initiatives that set the standard for excellence.
  • Forge partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation and deliver impactful projects.
  • Champion sustainability efforts, leveraging our assets to support our environmental objectives.
  • Lead the charge in datadriven decisionmaking, harnessing the power of information to drive strategic initiatives forward.

Experience and skills required:


  • A natural leader who inspires others to exceed expectations and embrace change with experience in senior roles within Property Services, and a track record of success and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic corporate advice on property matters and drive service improvements in a complex environment.
  • Proven experience in budget management, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on delivering efficient and effective services.
  • Indepth understanding of legislation, regulations, and best practices in property management, coupled with knowledge of national and local government developments.
  • Excellent financial management skills and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.

Qualifications:


  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Corporate Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIOB, RIBA, RICS).
  • Evidence of ongoing management and personal development.
