At the London Diocesan Fund we seek to do everything we can to support this mission and growth, using our resources to help our parishes and chaplains to serve over 4 million people.


The Assistant Area Director of Mission work closely with the Willesden Director of Mission in encouraging and enhancing the Mission of the Church in line with the objectives of the Diocese of London's 2030 vision and the Area and Deanery Plans, to help churches live the 5 Anglican marks of mission.


The main responsibilities will be:

MISSION DEVELOPMENT:


  • To work closely alongside the D of M, in developing, delivering and reviewing the Episcopal Area plan, within the 2030 Vision for London
  • To drive change and transformation management across the Area working closely with Mission Support Officer, as well as the Diocesan Director of Strategy and Communications and the 2030 Vision Programme Manager.
  • To support parishes as they develop their Area's mission and vision, including facilitating Vision Days and Mission Action Planning. Offer a menu of MAP planning tools.
  • To work with the Area Deans in the delivery of Deanery Mission Plans and initiatives.
  • To work with strategically with particular parishes and clergy from time to time. Aspects of this work may be able to be done in partnership with the Area's Mission Support Officer if/ as appropriate.
  • To contribute to the DofMs strategic and creative thinking about how to help parish churches and other agencies develop their mission and ministry.
  • To help parishes access the mission support available from the Area's Mission Support Officer, as well as the diocese's 3 Ambition teams (Confident Disciples, Compassionate Communities, the Bishop of Islington's Creative Growth (CCX) team) and 3 Priority teams (Growing Younger, Safer Churches, Racial Justice)
  • To provide advice and support to enable successful church planting and grafting, and New Worshipping Communities working closely with CCX, (in line with the goal of a new worshipping community in every parish by 2030)
  • To work with the 2030 Vision Programme Office to leverage use of good metrics for measuring numbers, impact and spiritual health that will support good strategic decision making.
  • To work actively with the Director of Ministry:
  • To ensure the necessary provision of training for missional engagement
  • To collate and promote useful sources for theological reflection on mission
  • To develop strategic prayer initiatives and prayer resources to support mission in the Area
  • To assist the DofM in initiating Focus Groups within Willesden to understand a variety of issues relating to the ambitions and priorities of the 2030 Vision. Particularly to ensure hidden voices are heard e.g. youth, 2030s
  • To develop an Action Team to lead the delivery of one of the ambitions/prioritys in the 2030 Vision in Willesden
