Responsibilities:


Information and Communication:

Answer the telephone, relay messages accurately and welcome patients/relatives and visitors to the department.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Be aware of and support individual, religious and psychological needs.
Liaise with other departments as requested.
Support patient communication.
Support other members of directorate Housekeeper team.


Service/Ward/Department Summary:

We cater for patients with a severe enduring mental illness with co-morbid substance use, personality disorder and challenging behaviour.

To maintain the smooth running of our ward the Housekeeper's role is a very important one.

We are therefore looking to employ a friendly, helpful and motivated individual, who can fulfil all aspects of this interesting and varied post.

We need someone who is hard working, proactive and organised and supportive of our clinical team.

Excellent communication skills and team working are essential.


In the most recent CQC inspection Prospect Place, was rated as Good for being Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led.

Prospect Place is a member of the Quality Network for Forensic Mental Health Services. This is a peer review process with other Low and Medium secure units across the country.

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is a well established mental health Trust. Our headquarters are based in Ashton-Under-Lyne. The Trust offers a generous annual leave allowance that does increase along with time in service. The Trust supports staff via regular supervision in your work base and also yearly individual personal development review. The Trust provides a staff wellbeing service and access to occupational health.

Maintain general cleanliness and tidiness of department.
Maintain safe storage and contribute to cost effective control of medical and surgical supplies within department.
Maintain and monitor equipment as 'fit for use' within the department.
Report faults as appropriate - liaise with EMBE etc.
Wash and monitor the use of handling equipment
Check and monitor oxygen and suction points. Ensure equipment is available for use.
Attend appropriate training including annual statutory training.
Participate in the appraisal process.
Participate in meetings.
To be fully conversant with the Trust's Health and Safety policy and appreciate the role within this.
To act at all times within the Trust's guidelines, policies and procedures.
The prevention and management of acquired infection is a key priority for the Trust.

The post holder is required to ensure, as an employee, that his/her work methods are compliant with the Trust's agreed policies and procedures and do not endanger other people or themselves.
