Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Bereavement Support Officer to join our Honeysuckle Bereavement Team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
- To support The Honeysuckle Team in the delivery of a proactive and effective patient and family focused bereavement service. To be a point of contact for patients, families and staff throughout Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust including external organisations and members of the public in the delivery of the honeysuckle bereavement service.
- To acknowledge and action Honeysuckle referrals on a daily basis in a timely manner, escalating to bereavement midwife where appropriate.
- To receive all pregnancy losses, terminations of pregnancy, stillbirth and neonatal deaths in a dignified and respectful way. To ensure all are actioned in a timely manner including the facilitation of transfer to and from external sites for examination and testing, final sign out and release to undertakers for funerals and to the local crematorium for communal cremation.
- To provide information and data on pregnancy losses, terminations of pregnancy, stillbirth and neonatal deaths to various teams including research midwives/nurses, midwives and consultants.
Each year we deliver over 7,500 babies, carry out over 49,000 gynaecological inpatient and outpatient procedures, care for over 1,000 poorly & preterm newborns, perform around 1,000 IVF cycles and have over 4,000 genetic appointments taking place.

- To facilitate visits to the Honeysuckle suite by bereaved patients and their families
- this includes preparing pregnancy losses/babies for viewing.
- To facilitate stillbirth and birth and death registration appointments liaising with registration offices in various districts within the North West.
- To provide information via the telephone to bereaved patients and their families about local and national support services, including voluntary and statutory agencies and offer support to those accessing the honeysuckle bereavement service, providing links or referrals to services where appropriate.
