Responsible for all export freight, customs, clearance etc. for the Rawtenstall site. Authority to manage the annual freight spend of circa £450,000
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all goods have the necessary accurate documentation, including invoices, packing lists and any other appropriate documentation. Calculate all weights, meterage etc. for invoices.
- Liaise with transporters/freight forwarders and ensure that all criteria for despatch are met.
- Ensure that all costs are recouped from the customer where applicable.
- Liaise with the sales team on freight costs, quotes, etc.
- Prepare ongoing reports for Management showing the number of items shipped, the transport company used and the price paid.
- Monitor freight providers in terms of reliability, price and quality
- Actively search for new freight providers
- Manager the company's specialist customs regime
- Inward Processing Relief (IPR)
- Liaise with carriers as necessary to improve the quality of the transport service and reduce the overall cost of transport.
- Maintain uptodate fact files and records for all transport matters.
- To be the company expert / advisor on all matters relating to the exporting of goods to the EU and international locations. To advise management on export procedures.
Qualifications/ Experience:
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
- Must have SAP experience
- Must have good working knowledge of EU import requirements
- Must be uptodate with international freight requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work effectively under pressure
- Able to work effectively using own initiative
- Excellent organisational skills
- Competent IT skills including outlook, windows and excel
