OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
Management of the cleaning team ensuring that all cleaning tasks are undertaken to the highest standard. To ensure that cleaning supplies and stock are maintain and procured within budget. Undertake health and safety checks and COSHH related to the domestic services


REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Operations Manager. You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Principal.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

General:

  • Oversee and Support Housekeeping Operations.
  • Operate within departmental budgets through effective stock and cost controls and well managed schedules.
  • Support departmental targets and objectives, work schedules, budgets, and policies and procedures.
  • Ensure consistently high operating standards in every area of Housekeeping as identified by the schools' expectations.
  • Perform routine inspections of all housekeeping areas and report any issues to the
Operations Manager

  • Effectively implement all housekeeping policies and procedures including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Security.
  • Monitor the appearance, standards, and performance of all Housekeeping Team Members with an emphasis on training and teamwork.
  • Ensure team members have an uptodate knowledge of all room categories and building.
  • Assist the Operations Manager to maintain good communication and work relationships in all school departments especially Boarding Teams areas and with external customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure staffing levels cover business demands.
  • Ensure effective communication with the Maintenance team in reporting damage and maintenance requirements as they become apparent.
  • Ensure Team meetings are conducted on a weekly/ daily basis
  • Manage staff performance issues in compliance with the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Support managing, training, and developing the team.
  • Provide excellent Student, Staff and Visitor service.
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary.
  • Any ad hoc duties as required.

Health & Safety:

  • Maintain safe and comfortable conditions for all staff, students, and visitors.
  • Implement the Group's Health and Safety policies
  • Brief staff on Health and Safety issues
  • Maintain Safe working practices within the domestic department
  • Identify the areas for improvements within the department in consultation with the Health and Safety manager/Operations Manager
  • Carry out regular risk assessments and document the same
  • Advise the Maintenance Department in connection with any equipment that may pose a hazard, such as scaffolding, welding equipment, etc, used by inhouse staff and contracted workforce
  • Ensure that all equipment is safe to use and in good working order
  • Keep up to date with Health and Safety legislation and Health and Safety Executive directives applicable to your operation
Security

  • Responsible for Unlocking and Locking the college at the directed times and for unsetting and setting the intruder alarm
  • Ensure that requirements of the company security procedures are observed in relation to staff, students, and premises.

Personnel Administration/Recruitment:

  • Ensure that all statutory and legal regulations are observed
  • Assist with the recruitment and appointment of domestic staff
  • To ensure that all new starters complete the 13week induction
  • To ensure that all staff receive appropriate training, ensuring any gaps are identified and training is provided
  • To ensure that all staff are smartly presented and wearing the correct uniform
  • To report all absences and any other staff issues to the relevant departments

Occasional Duties:

  • Liaise with outside suppliers and agencies
  • Any other Task as directed by the Operations Manager or Senior Management Team
  • You will also be required to undertake additional duties during our Busy Summer School period,
these additional duties will be notified to you prior to the commencement of the Summer School
