Maintenance Assistant

Reports to:
Head of Group Maintenance / Site Home Manager

Location:
Based in Grantham ( Site Support across the Group, Homes located Grantham and Newark)

Salary:
Up to £12.50 per hour depending on age and experience

Work Pattern:
Between 8 am-6 pm, Monday to Friday - Full-Time - 40 hours per week.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join our team based at one of our homes in Newark.

We want someone with a caring nature and who wants to make a difference on a day to day basis, with a an understanding of how important it is to create a safe and secure environment for our residents, whilst maintaining that homely feel.

This is a Full-time role, working 40 hours per week.

Due to the nature of the role, work outside of the agreed hours may be required, so flexibility is needed for this role, we may also ask you to carry out duties and site support at other homes within the group when needed.

The main duties will include, but are not limited to:

Carry out repairs and decoration to the home as required.
Working as part of a team on large projects
Ensure any known defects to appliances, furniture, equipment, and other potential hazards are reported to the Manager and Head of Maintenance and actioned as required.
Monitor the fire panel daily, reporting any faults showing whilst testing the fire system on a weekly basis, recording in the fire log.
Liaise with and support visiting contractors.
PAT testing equipment as and when it arrives at the home with new residents ( Training can be provided)
Full site safety checks and walkrounds on a regular basis
Test and record water temperatures on a Monthly basis.
Ensure all products are stored correctly and in line with regulations.
Take deliveries of new furniture and products arriving at the home
Help maintain the gardens and grounds around the home.
Health and Safety Audits on a monthly basis.

Skills:

Skilled in all basic maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrics, carpentry, painting and decorating.
H&S experience and an understanding of regulations.
Tools and equipment
Full Driving licence and access to a vehicle
Can work alone and as part of team.
Knowledge of care home systems ( Nurse Call or other systems, including fire panels) would be advantageous
Be a proactive person and have the ability to prioritise your work load.
Be able to communicate at all levels

Ability to commute/relocate:

Grantham, NG31 8SA: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

Maintenance: 2 year minimum (Essential)
Driving licence and access to a vehicle ( Essential)
Have experience working within the healthcare sector ( Preferred but not essential)
Trade knowledge advantageous, but not essential.
