Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to join our Pensions Shared Service as a Pensions Officer in our Benefits Team.

The Pensions Shared Service, based in Wandsworth, runs the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for five London boroughs: Camden, Merton, Richmond, Waltham Forest, and Wandsworth.


This is very exciting phase for our service as we transform through a programme of expanding our staffing resources, greater use of automation and emphasis on people development.

As a Pensions Officer, you will provide accurate calculations.


About the role


The Pensions Shared Service, based in Wandsworth, runs the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for five London boroughs: Camden, Merton, Richmond, Waltham Forest and Wandsworth.

As a Pensions Officer, you will process benefit calculations, respond to queries from members and peer check colleagues' casework.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge and high capability of using the Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge and experience of the LGPS or other DB pension scheme(s)
  • An understanding of the Council's equal opportunities policy in respect of service delivery and an awareness of the needs of differing cultural and minority groups.
  • Ability to work as a team to produce high quality work.
  • Ability to work flexibly and in response to customer demand and service needs.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and promote the service through innovation and creativity.
