Chelmsford, CM1 1QH


Full Time: 40 hours per week
We are working with a market leader in the highways term maintenance industry to recruit an Administrative Assistant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Structures team as an Administrative Assistant in Chelmsford.

The successful applicant will assist the Structures Project Management Team in ensuring the successful implementation of schemes as well as making sure there is strict financial and budgetary control over the programme of works.

Working in the Structures Project Management Team requires good written and verbal communication skills. These will be essential in the preparation of public communication, internal coordination and assisting in delivering successful projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Management team with the delivery of structures task orders.
  • Assist with the resource schedule and team workload.
  • Assist in the control of project resource costings.
  • Update project programmes.
  • Assist the Project Management Team to ensure the relevant KPIs are met though monitoring and reporting.
  • Monitoring project work i.e., reviewing tasks/hours working.
  • Maintain project documentation, filing, attend meetings and take notes as applicable
  • As directed provide support to other members of the team in the design and development of projects, undertaking duties as instructed to produce successful outcomes.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties that may be directed or implied from time to time commensurate to the post and/or organisational requirements.
  • Understands the overall functions, aims and directions of Essex Highways, and how the structures service fits into those objectives.

About You

  • Ideally hold either Foundation APM or equivalent qualification, or reasonable experience in an Assistant role with an understanding of Project Management.
  • A reasonable level of administration experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise own work to support business priorities. Manages own performance and seeks feedback to improve where identified.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key people both internally and externally.
  • Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good time management skills.
