Higher Learning Teaching Assistant

Contract:
Full Time 41.5 hours, Permanent


Location:
Brampton/Haltwhistle


Salary:
£20,351.14 pro rata (£23,727.79 FTE for 52 weeks)

  • Hours of work 8.30 to 17:00 Mon, to Thurs and 8.30 to 16.00 on Friday

Job Purpose:


  • To enhance the learning of pupils who have a wide range of special educational and learning needs. To support the teaching staff in enabling the pupils to gain independence, participate fully in the curriculum and the general life of the school. To be adaptable, have empathy, and follow the school's policies and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience and behaviour management within Kirby Moor School.
  • Work with members of the Education team to support students personal and academic development by removing barriers to students' learning.
  • To promote positive learning behaviour with students.
  • To discuss the debrief of incidents with pupils to gain a greater understanding of the incident and the support the child needs to prevent further incidents or to reduce the frequency of incidents.
  • To respond to immediate student concerns clarifying the situation.
  • To work within the schools' Inclusion provision.
  • To collaborate with the SENDCo to coordinate 1:1 Support Programme and develop this to establish and develop a counselling relationship with identified students in liaison with the SENDCo.
  • To prepare for, undertake and record all 1:1 sessions timetabled
  • To deliver lessons when required
  • To assist in the preparation of information relevant to the meetings about pupils

Administrative Duties

  • Writing Pastoral sections of reports for those pupils with additional support in school ensuring accurate records of pastoral support are kept

Data management

  • Supporting in collation of assessment data for analysis (in relation to the Pastoral issues such as SI, Info sheets and Rewards/Sanctions)
