Job overview:


The Cober CMHT is situated in the West of Cornwall ( Falmouth Area) and provides assessment and treatment for all those over 75 with dementia and mental health disorders as well as for younger Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry needed to join our team of enthusiastic, welcoming psychiatrists in Cornwall.

It is a cohesive team and the post holder works closely with another full time consultant based in Penzance to provide cover to the West Cornwall Integrated Care Area.


We are seeking individuals who are open to new ways of working, interested in developing services for the future, or who may be looking to consider research or teaching in addition to a clinical role.

We are open to discussing relocation options with suitably qualified individuals.


Main duties of the job:

The postholder and their consultant colleagues in the Mid Integrated Care Area will provide cross cover for leave arrangements.


The postholder will care for both functional and organic patients in the community as well as providing input to the Memory Assessment Service.

There are memory practitioners and Dementia Liaison Nurses who offer support to targeted care homes who also form part of the multi-disciplinary team.


The home treatment team for the general adult psychiatry service will support people in crisis with functional mental illness with a view to preventing admission.

The post links with the GP surgeries in the Mid Integrated Care Area.


All referrals are deemed to be team referrals and are dealt with by the appropriate team member as determined by the individual circumstances at the time.

Consultants in CFT are not required to act as care coordinator. One team manager covers the Mid Integrated Care Area.
