Are you a highly specialist SLT in deafness or have a special interest and passion in the field of deafness? Are you passionate about the latest development and research in deafness and promoting and sharing good practice with SLT colleagues and partners?


We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and forward thinking community team, acting as an Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in deafness.


We deliver clinical excellence through evidence based packages of care and use of a clinical profiling tool and service thresholds to deliver an equitable citywide service to the children referred.


We offer a friendly and supportive working environment with a strong emphasis on CPD through access to specialist clinical support, sharing good practice and effective team working.

We work closely with Teachers of the deaf in delivering a service to deaf clients.


You will provide Speech and Language Therapy at a highly specialist level, within the area of deafness, functioning in partnership with other agencies and disciplines to support in the holistic assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children and young people known to the service.

You will demonstrate clinical leadership in deafness and represent the local team/service area in all appropriate meetings to support and develop quality services for deaf children and young people across the city in an integrated partnership model, where possible.

A breakdown of the post is as follows:


0.2 wte dedicated time to:


  • Identifying training and development needs within the specialist clinical area of deafness and delivering activities which contribute to maintenance of safe, effective clinical practice.
  • Supporting and developing SLT staff to gain skills and knowledge within the clinical area of deafness, providing clinical supervision and highly specialist support.
0.4 WTE you will be working with a deaf client group
