A national civils engineering company require an experienced Civils Estimator to join their team at their regional office in Sevenoaks.
Civils Estimator
To prepare, manage and supervise accurate estimates for major infrastructure projects to support delivery of business objectives including relationship with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- To prepare, manage and supervise accurate estimates for major infrastructure projects to support delivery of business objectives including relationship with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Being responsible for a team of a team of 4 direct reports initially, with responsibility for further recruitment and training within your team
- Undertake estimates from first principles in accordance with Company procedures
- Review tender documents and drawings.
- To create detailed cost risk analysis and work breakdown analysis to ensure the production of highquality cost estimates.
- Identify and prepare risks and opportunities register.
- Create tender programmes using MS project, Asta Powerproject's or similar software. Utilising planning resource as required.
- Liaise with the tender Bid Manager and Buying Dept.
- Prepare submission documents and ensure timely delivery.
- Oversee tender handover meetings with construction team.
- Participate in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) with our Bid / Construction Team and Clients.
- Provide ongoing support to site teams relating to estimate and key assumptions.
- Subcontractor engagement at tender stage, producing enquiries and assessing returns from supply chain.
- Identify opportunity and risk during the tender process.
- Help develop, mentor, and manage junior / trainee estimators.
- Manage relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
- Ensure full compliance with the core process procedures throughout tender period.
- To promote company values in all dealings with other employees, clients, subcontractors, and other external contacts
- Demonstrate willingness to undertake training and development.
Key Requirements/Qualifications:
- Experience in: Highways, Water, Gas, and Telecoms
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Experience with various
Contract Conditions:
NEC3 & 4, JCT and ability to interpret risks.
- Previous exposure to Microsoft Project
- Ability to adapt to estimating software and packages.
- Full UK Licence as travel to sites and meetings will be required.
