An opportunity has become available for an Analytical Team Lead within our QC Department here in Dundee.

You will be working closely with the Quality Control Manager to Lead a team for analytical testing for Raw materials to final product, stability, in process testing of materials, water testing and environmental.

You will also perform swabbing for production or products for commercial use whilst ensuring others achieve strong housekeeping, quality and compliance.

You will naturally be able to meet changing priorities, encourage your team to do the same, creating an engaged, high energy and solution focused unit.


We want you to have a hands on approach already be leading a team or be in a supervisory role.

You will be responsible for your teams performance and engagement, provide leadership, coaching and upskilling your team members.

You will also take accountability for the performance of your team ensuring that both you and your team have commitment to continuous improvement.


You will also:

  • Support any nonroutine GMP or nonGMP testing, investigations and project testing/work as required
  • Support all other areas of the Quality Control group to meet customer/client expectations
  • Accurately follow relevant SOPs, performing all activities in accordance with cGMP requirements, reporting anomalies. Initiate and complete laboratory discrepancy events on time
  • Oversee document test results to ensure completeness and accuracy per cGMP, keeping accurate documentation. Complies, enters and reviews data into databases, evaluating and interpreting data
  • Demonstrate and lead with handson knowledge of operating, maintenance and troubleshooting skills for HPLC instruments as well as quality / regulatory requirements pertinent to quality control environments / laboratories.
  • Performing moderate to complex equipment / instrumentation troubleshooting
  • Support Technical Services team by providing resource for validation activities as required
  • Support Engineering team providing resource for calibrations and instrument qualifications as required
  • Participate in and contribute to internal and external audits
  • Responsible for initiation and/or review of change controls, specification and method updates

You will have:

Had past experience being a team leader or supervisor:


  • It is vital that you are an experienced analytical chemist with 2-5 years' experience in chromatographic (HPLC and GC ), spectroscopic and classical techniques:

HND or Degree in relevant scientific discipline:

  • A high level of Technical Expertise in Chemistry and laboratory techniques
  • Successful track record in laboratorybased troubleshooting
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in a cGMP Quality Environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Skilled in Microsoft office suite, advanced excel skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, and engage, guide and mentor staff
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask and time manage effectively
