About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Vento-Tormo Group in our Cellular Genetics Programme. The position will be for a 2 year fixed term contract with possibility of extension.


You will be responsible for:


You will be working on developing a reproductive system epithelial organoid platform model for studying interactions between the placenta and endometrium and disease.

You will be building on established organoid methods and generation pipelines to improve the existing protocols and adapt them to a high-throughput format.

The project will also involve complexification of the organoid model by adding other cellular compartments (stromal, immune, endothelial) in order to better model the in situ system.

The organoid platform will be used for genetic and drug screens. This project will involve tight collaboration with members of our and other teams, both experimental and computational.

About Us:


Essential Skills:


  • PhD in cell/molecular biology, biotechnology, genetics, immunology or a similar discipline with a publication record
  • Knowledge of organoid culture
  • Proven experience with protocol development
  • Good experience with cell biology in different systems
  • Experience with single cellomics (e.g. scRNAseq)
  • Experience in carrying out both independent and collaborative research
  • Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wideranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own work in order to meet deadlines, including using initiative to plan research programmes
  • Working collaboratively with others and building working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrates inclusivity and respect for all
  • Commitment to personal development and updating of knowledge and skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with iPSC differentiation protocols
  • Experience with immune cell culture
  • Experience with cellular assays
  • Experience with gene editing technology (CRISPR/Cas9) and screening processes

Other Information:


Salary per annum (dependent upon skills and experience) £35,707-£44,712
