The Role & What You Will Be Doing


This role provides all aspects of Technical Operation support in the Discovery Park House Laboratory, enabling hosted scientific functions to progress projects in the Viatris portfolio in an efficient and compliant manner.

Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here's how the Technical Operations Coordinator role will make an impact:

  • Ensuring timely availability of all laboratory equipment in required state (calibration and servicing) for use by Viatris scientists at Sandwich.
  • Managing and coordinating activities of 3rd party vendors in line with required schedules.
  • Ensure appropriate regulatory compliance of all laboratory equipment.
  • Managing the inventory database for laboratory equipment.
  • Works with laboratory scientist groups to plan equipment requirements and ensure availability in line with project needs.
  • Acts as _equipment lead_ responsible for equipment as required.
  • Ensuring comprehensive records are maintained in electronic repository for all calibration and maintenance activities.
  • Supports Technical Operations Manager with receipting, shipping and distribution of hazardous materials and drug product to enable progression of respiratory and complex products in the portfolio.
  • Maintains inventory of hazardous substances by controlling availability of incoming new materials and annual stock check in line with EHS procedures.
  • Coordinates laboratory facility maintenance activities in partnership with the landlord.
  • Adheres to all applicable policies and procedures, including those relating to EHS, GxP, Quality and Compliance, consistent with the role and any associated responsibilities.
  • IT system development to support technical business operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the grade of the role.
About Your Skills & Experience

  • Relevant academic qualification and/or substantial relevant experience.
  • Experienced laboratory scientist that has worked in a life sciences research environment, ideally within a pharmaceutical R&D laboratory.
  • Experienced in working with and supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects under pressure to tight timelines.
  • Can demonstrate practical understanding of health and safety regulations implemented in a laboratory environment.
  • Experienced in coordinating servicing, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment through management of external vendors.
  • An understanding of the requirements for shipping and distribution of pharmaceutical products
  • Experience working in a GLP/GMP environment.
  • Ideally, understands cGMP requirements underpinning pharmaceutical product development ideally including development and testing of respiratory products.
  • Able to plan own work with limited supervision, to consistently achieve output of high quality results in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communications skills, with experience in managing complex business interactions in potential conflict situations to secure best outcomes.
  • Can work collaboratively within a team environment and build effective relationships with partners and customer groups across the Sandwich site.
