Description
We are seeking a passionate, and enthusiastic Team Leader to own and help drive the solutions and quality of our product design and development

The role requires an individual who is innovative with proven ability to generate new ideas and approaches to problems. Self-driven and motivated with ability to use own initiatives and steer and mentor the Design Authority team.

The Team Leader will be able to promote and share technical decisions and choices made with the wider business and is driven to provide the best and most timely solutions that enable Sepura to provide best in class products.


The Design Authority Team Leader will work in close partnership with Product Management to convert customer and market requirements into cost effective, flexible and innovative solutions, working together with R&D Teams from first concept through to delivery of a product and platform.


Main Duties
Main responsibilities are working collaboratively and building strong working relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Leadership, development and resourcing of the team to ensure that we attract, engage and develop high calibre talent that will meet the strategic needs of Sepura
  • Setting the overall direction, priorities and development of your team
  • Acting as a Design Authority on Sepura R&D Projects
  • Providing technical leadership to the engineering teams through mentoring
  • Ownership of Design Authority team performance
  • Review and improvement of development processes
  • Responsible for establishing & monitoring a consistent, high quality and effective method of delivering the key outcomes from the team, converting customer requirements into products in an efficient and cost effective way
  • Build strong and successful relationships across the teams involved in end to end delivery to generate engagement in projects and implementation, clearly defining ownership and responsibility and ensuring projects/products are delivered on time, at the target cost and to specification
  • Work in partnership with the PMO, PSG, ATG & R&D teams to deliver platforms and products, with end to end system design responsibility.
  • Ownership of product platforms and their performance (functionality, longevity, cost, size and technical risk) and their roadmap, working to minimise obsolescence throughout the life cycle
  • Ensure efficient handover from DA activities into the development teams
  • Working with ATG to transition ATG projects into R&D
  • Ensure a consistent and effective method for project delivery

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Essential
  • Relevant technical engineering degree
  • Due to the nature of our UK customer base, the individual may be expected to complete UK Security Clearance (SC) vetting.

Experience:

  • Essential
  • Proven Team leadership experience
  • At least 5 years proven industry experience in an equivalent role
  • Selfstarter with ability to demonstrate technical leadership within a multidisciplinary product development environment
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycle principals
  • Broad experience of multidisciplinary electronics engineering product development
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders to ensure product designs fulfil functional and nonfunctional requirements and align with broader technical and architectural goals
  • Experience of specifying technical requirements and taking a lead role in delivering against these requirements
  • Experience aligning product development standards and frameworks with the business and technology strategy
  • Track record of delivery
