    This team supports a major energy infrastructure project in Somerset. The role is a 12-month (renewable) contract position, inside IR35, with site-based work.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • The Field Engineer will conduct surveillance on construction activities performed by a Contractor on the Construction Site.
    • They will ensure these activities align with the Contractor's Work Information.
    • As part of a team, their primary role is to monitor the contract and ensure that Project Quality needs, targets, and expectations are met.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • The Field Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality compliance within the designated section of the Works in accordance with Project surveillance strategy requirements.
    • They will input into site-wide management issues and require high-level interaction and coordination with other operational members of the site-wide team.
    • In addition to reporting and liaison responsibilities, the Field Engineer must adhere to company policies, procedures, and protocols for construction, health & safety, and other functions.

    Main Duties:

    • The Field Engineer must check that the Works are constructed in accordance with the Contractor's Work Information and notify the Construction Superintendent of deviation and non-conformance request requirements.
    • They must submit details of any non-conformance request requirements to assist in issuing non-conformance reports.
    • Proactive communication with stakeholders is essential, as well as maintaining good communication links and timely surveillance reporting.
    • The Field Engineer should identify potential Quality issues before they arise to enable mitigating actions.
    • Supporting team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within Quality standards is also required.
    • The Field Engineer must ensure tasks are developed to quality in accordance with the company's requirement for health, safety, and environment.
    • Developing and maintaining an understanding of the construction activities and their adherence to quality is crucial.
    • Reviewing Contractor performance against the authorised Quality Control Plan is also necessary.
    • Making autonomous decisions and operating with minimal supervision is expected.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of HND in a Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience.
    • Experience in the installation and erection of large Civil Works and Mechanical or Electrical plant.
    • Proven track record of working within a large construction team/complex Project(s).
    • Working knowledge of the NEC ECC and FIDIC contracts is highly beneficial.
    • Excellent organisation, delegation, and communication skills are necessary.
    • Ability to work within a high-performing team that continuously outperforms expectations and objectives.
    • Proven experience of writing diaries which are accurate, concise, and relevant to the particular form of contract.
    • General understanding of the post's obligations under CDM Regulations – along with an understanding of the document and drawing approvals processes.
    • Experience in the use of electronic handheld devices to capture information.
