The School of Health Sciences is recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a lectureship in Health Sciences (Post-Graduate Taught) to support our wide and diverse postgraduate education programmes, and to join our team on a permanent basis.

Overview

The College of Medicine and Health is one of three colleges at Bangor University.

The College, through the University, is formally linked to the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board enabling an integrated approach to developing research, training, medical and healthcare education that serves the needs of North Wales and beyond.

Purpose of the Job

The delivery of post-graduate education across the School's portfolio including the planning, design, delivery and evaluation.

Main


Responsibilities:


  • Work with Postgraduate Directors for Taught and Research programmes and programme leads to support the delivery of PG education.
  • Demonstrate leadership through module leadership as required.
  • Contribute to the leadership, management and professional development of the postgraduate team.
  • Contribute to the development of the School and University in line with the strategic and operational objectives.
  • Undertake teaching into areas of health sciences, public health, health promotion and, leadership and management and research methodology.
  • Undertake module lead responsibilities in areas of health sciences, public health, health promotion and, leadership and management and research methodology.
  • Review ethical aspects of research proposals and protocols, for internal review.
  • Work with IT and colleagues to setup and deliver innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Supervise level 7/8 students and support with project specific tasks.
  • Assist programme leads and Directors in the preparation of data for quality assurance purposes.
  • Assist programme leads and Directors in the preparation of reports as required to adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Promote the work of the School of Health Sciences by supporting marketing and recruitment activities, admissions and providing students with pastoral support.
  • Undertake other duties as requested by the Head of School.

Responsibilities:


  • Maintain the security of research data obtained and observe confidentiality at all times regarding participants and their involvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with research and clinical governance guidelines, data protection and ethical requirements.
  • The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.
  • The post holder will be expected to comply with the University's equality policies and statements, Dignity at Work and Study Policy and the University's Welsh Language Scheme.
  • The post holder has a general and legal duty of care in relation to health, safety and wellbeing and must take all reasonable steps to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for him/herself and for other members of staff, students and visitors affected by his/her actions or in actions. The post holder is also required to comply with all applicable health and safety policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • The post holder must comply with relevant legal and financial policies and procedures and be aware of their responsibilities in terms of the legal requirements of their posts.

Qualifications/Training


Essential:

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE) or be close to the completion OR Recognised by the HEA as a Fellow / Recognised by Advance HE as a Fellow against Descriptor 2 of the UKPSFExperience/Knowledge

Essential:

  • Experience working as an academic in the field of health sciences, public health, health promotion.
  • Evidence of teaching in clinical or academic settings.

Desirable:

  • Experience of module development and delivery in higher education.
  • Experience of supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
  • A sound knowledge of contemporary policy
