ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an excellent opportunity for a Commissioning Editor to join the UK Primary Literacy team. The role will be working on major UK primary literacy brands such as Oxford Reading Tree, Read Write Inc. and Project X—content that helps improve children's life chances.
Reporting to the Senior Publisher, the Commissioning Editor will help build our publishing to provide teachers and learners with quality print and digital resources.
The Commissioning Editor will have a role on brand strategy.
The Commissioning Editor will engage with a wide group of stakeholders, including editorial team members and other colleagues across the division.
The Commissioning Editor will also have external interactions with teachers and learners, consultants and experts linked to brands, as well as freelance publishers and editors.
The Commissioning Editor will draw on their editorial experience and market knowledge to shape and develop products, ensuring that high quality, market-appropriate print and digital products are published to schedule.
ABOUT YOU
If you're a Commissioning Editor with a passion for literacy, education (in particular UK Primary) and publishing looking for a new challenge in a supportive, creative and innovative team, then this opportunity will interest you.
You will have:
- Commissioning experience
- Excellent editorial skills
- Experience of print and digital publishing
- Experience of school publishing, ideally for the primary market
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of teachers' and learners' needs
- Excellent awareness of the importance of inclusivity in content
- A track record of successful project management
- Excellent organization and time management skills
Desirable:
- A track record of publishing successful primary brands
- Good knowledge of the primary market and an understanding of trends
- Teaching experience
