Temporary Works Coordinator - Leeds

Welcome to TRU East:


The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) aims to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds.


The aim of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North's great cities.

Providing passengers with more choice, more seats, and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.


As the Temporary Works Coordinator you will manage all types of temporary works and delegate or organise tasks to align with the temporary works schedule.

In addition you will be responsible for making sure the temporary works are designed, procured, constructed, inspected and decommissioned in line with designs and specifications and checked to ensure they are safe.

The TWc will report directlyin to the Engineering Manager (CEM)


What you will be doing

  • Coordinate all Temporary Works activities in accordance with BS5975 and PC Representative's Company Procedures for Temporary Works (JMS)JM for TRUe East of Leeds
  • Ensure that a detailed design brief has been produced and is in accordance with the actual situation on site.
  • Advise the temporary works designer of any temporary conditions, or loads, that should be considered and ensure that a satisfactory Temporary Works design is carried out.
  • Ensure that the design is independently reviewed and is compliant with all relevant and associated standards.
  • Responsible for Temporary Works documentation being adequately maintained and is auditable.
  • Ensure that those responsible for onsite supervision receive full design details, with significant risks and design limitations highlighted.
  • Checks are made at appropriate stages covering the more critical factors.
  • Proposed changes in materials or construction are checked against the original design and appropriate action taken.
  • Make sure that any agreed changes are correctly carried out on site.
  • Monitor and ensure that the appropriate criteria are achieved that allows the temporary works to be removed.
  • When it has been confirmed that the temporary works are no longer required ensure formal permission to dismantle the Temporary Works is obtained.
  • Run there own IDC,s
  • Completion of NWR forms and complete inspections
  • Use Project wise and act as document control for TW where required. Attend IDC meetings, Engineering meetings and works reviews

Who we are looking for

  • Must have experience of multidisciplinary railway infrastructure projects covering design, construction and maintenance
  • An understanding of commercial elements of a project.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer (preferred) ICE
  • CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Course (preferred).
  • PTS
  • IIOSH (preferred)
