Principal Mechanical Engineer

  • Based near Didcot
  • Possible Hybrid Model position
  • Up to £70k DOE
  • 25 days holiday + Bank holidays


Syntech Recruitment are excited to be recruiting for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Technology client who are a breakthrough provider of optical monitoring equipment.

Based at their site near Didcot, you lead and take ownership of the developmentand design of the company's products.


Principal Mechanical Engineer Duties

  • Lead and take ownership of the development and mechanical design of optical sensors for harsh environments
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced engineers and provide reviews of their work
  • Design tasks will include the selection of materials, definition of part geometry for mechanical, thermal, vibration and pressure loads
  • Use Solidworks CAD and Solidworks FEA to design products
  • Design and develop necessary tooling to support manufacture,
  • Carry out engineering changes to existing design, verification and implementation

Principal Mechanical Engineer Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent education
  • Background and experience in solving mechanical engineering challenges through design, calculation and test
  • Able to create models using Solidworks CAD
  • Knowledge of FEA using Solidworks FEA tools
  • Ability to develop simple programmes in C+ for Arduino
  • Experience / understanding of FMEA
  • Expertise in engineering drawings, Geometric tolerancing and DFM
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as Bonding, Welding, Brazing and Etching
