The Role


We are looking for an Underwriter to join as a senior member of the Credit and Political Risk team with a demonstrable track record across credit and political risk insurance.

Opportunity to work within a dynamic and collaborative team environment where you will be supported to utilise your extensive network of relationships to bring accretive income to the business whilst exercise personal judgement within your individual authority.


Responsibilities will include:

Whilst working in a collegiate team environment comprised of senior underwriting management, underwriters, assistant underwriters, technical assistants:

  • Evolve personal relationships with key brokers and clients
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of distribution and marketing plans to win targeted profitable income
  • Formulating independent opinions, and recommendations around corporates, and sovereign risk by way of:
  • Analysing ECA and bank memos, financial information, such as statements, management accounts and cash flow statements; Performing country risk, and sector analyses; Working with the team's political risk analysts and credit analysts; Recommend max insured lines, and monitoring your portfolio of exposures
  • Take a lead role in contributing to peer review debate and assessment of policy risks
  • Work to resolve claims including workouts and restructurings with the, claims team and dedicated internal legal counsel
  • Liaise with the catastrophe management team to assess portfolio risk
  • Support the business planning and forecasting process

Skills and experience:


  • Demonstrable significant track record in credit and political risk insurance with wellestablished broker and client relationships
  • Significant technical knowledge and skills in the class of business
  • Aware of and actively engaged with trends within the market
  • Strong listening, negotiation and marketing skills
  • Excellent statistical/analytical skills utilised to interrogate and interpret data
  • Proficient user of Excel, Bloomberg, and S&P capital IQ
  • Selfstarter driven to excel in the credit and political risk market
  • Desire to build a personal brand through providing creative solutions and ideas
  • Agile mindset able to adapt to a changing environment
  • Desire to develop their management responsibilities within a collaborative team
  • Capable of developing and understand business processes, strategy and planning
  • Ability to build and maintain solid working relationships with colleagues, brokers and insureds
