The Role:

As a Transport Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning and organising the transport function efficiently and safely.

You will ensure the team complies with legislation and company standards.

In your role, you will be responsible for motivating your team and monitoring their performance, all whilst providing a high level of customer service at all times.

You will report directly to the operations manager.

Key Responsibilities
-
Customer Service and performance:_

  • Adapts approach/style of interation depending on the people and/or situation as appropriate.
  • Plans and organises routing and loading of vehicles to ensure maximum efficiency and to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Plans and organises staff withineach shift ensuring all area of operation is adequately covered i.e organises breaks, etc.
  • Allocates driver routes for deliveries and collections. Directs drivers on routes when necessary.
  • Identifies staff sortages when they occur and contacts the relevant agency to arrange cover.
  • Arranges additional transport as required when vehicles are in for repair and/or on customer demand in line with budget.
  • Ensures adequate communication channels are established and maintaned to improve teamwork and workforce motivation and commitment.
  • Monitors staff performance against objectives and initiantes action to address shortfalls.
  • Listens to staff concerns, persuades and influences others to gain buy in and trust.
  • Motivates and coaches staff to hep them reach their objectives.
  • Conducts regular team meetings.

  • Arranges vehicle repairs, as notified on defect reports,with either leasing company or garage.
- identifies and raises awareness of staff training needs.

  • Ensure that the team comply with legislation and company policies and procedures e.g. Health & Safetylegislation, enviromental policies, working time directives etc.
  • Raises issues that may impinge on health & safety requirements and ensure that they are rectified immediately.
  • Ensures knowledge is up to date on legislation related to the transport of goods.
  • Ensure that they are familair with health and safety rules and regulations, and that their responsiilities as an employee, in respect of health and safety rules and regulations, are carried out in full.
