Our client, based in Chelmsford, is currently recruiting for an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer to join their team.
As part of the Engineering team ensure that Plant and Machinery is kept maintained, repaired - meeting both Group and local safety systems/legislation.
- Identification and recovery of fault situations on machinery.
- Provide electro/mechanical support for both direct production equipment and services including plant ancillaries.
- Adherence to preventative maintenance schedules.
- Procure spare parts.
- Liaise/work with Sub Contractors/ Service Engineers.
- In conjunction with Dept Team Leader and Safety Coordinator complete project work.
- Assisting with Plant upgrades and installations. Compliance with Company's Health & Safety requirements
- Take reasonable care for own and others' Health & Safety.
- Ensure Health & Safety training of subordinates.
- Must have relevant trade qualification Electrical or Electro/ Mechanical with experience within the manufacturing industry or FMCG sectors.
- General industrial experience.
- Knowledge of machine control systems.

- Organisational skills.
- Spare parts and service procurement in the absence of the dept Team leader
- Basic computer skills
- Problem solving and able to prioritise and work on own initiative.
- Effectively make judgements about Machinery /Plant maintenance/Repairs and Safety projects.
- Decide how to prioritise requirements.
- Good decisions will improve departments stakeholders perception, efficiency of engineering and contractor support, ultimately improving production output.
- Poor decisions can mean over expenditure, lack of confidence from machine crews, unreliability and issues unresolved.
- Internal 80% All groups at site level
- External 20% Machinery / Engineering suppliers, contractors.
- Ensure you are not contravening compliance standards for BRC (Basic hygiene) operating procedures, maintaining Good Hygiene and GMP.
- Monitor and intervene contractors and visitors to ensure compliance with hygiene controls and awareness.
- Ensure Housekeeping standards are complied with in particular 'clean as you go' policy and waste segregation.
- Be proactive by example to your colleagues with BRC (basic hygiene).
- Instigate and lead spillage and clean up control (minormajor)
- Promote reduction of energy wastage on Plant and Machinery.
- Report in a timely manner any waste stream or block drain issues.
