Job - Design Engineer

Location:
Market Weighton

Our client is looking for the support of a design engineer for our small but growing team.

Your role will be to assist in the design of steel frame buildings and develop engineering solutions for new and existing products.

Also, taking charge of projects thatare in concept stage now to develop and verify their structural suitability, the progression of this may lead to site-specific projects.

The targets of this role are to develop technical solutions and improve engineering processes as instructed by the Directorsand discussed with the senior management team

Our client is of the UK's largest modular building suppliers and portable cabin builders for both new and used Modular Buildings, Portable Buildings, Portable Cabins, Site cabins, office cabins, containers, containers stores, mobile classrooms the list is endless,and they are recruiting for a Design Engineer to join their team.

Benefits Package:

  • Negotiable salary between £28,000 to £40,000
  • Negotiable working hours (Based on the level of participation and experience)

Responsibilities:


  • The 3D design and detailing of steelwork for modular steel framework or timber frame constructions.
  • Knowledge of the modular/offsite construction sector and the relevant construction methodologies and associated codes/standards would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Developed knowledge in traditional materials such as steel and timber.
  • Skilled at using 3D modelling (ideally REVIT but negotiable) and 2D drafting packages.
  • Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.
  • Strong communication and IT skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Qualities

  • Advanced design knowledge
  • Able to confidently detail steel and wooden frames and to make sound judgements based on knowledge and experience


  • Analytical thinker

  • We expect strong problemsolving skills and meticulous attention to detail for this role.
  • Revit or similar: 3 years (preferred)
