An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the ITMS IT Security team as a cyber security analyst. ITMS strive to enhance the experience of students and staff in learning, teaching, research and business operations.

We provide guidance on the adoption ofappropriate technologies, systems and services in a rapidly developing environment and help people to embrace technology as it becomes embedded within university life.


Role


The University is continuing to make a significant investment in its IT and media services provision to ensure the delivery of consistent, high-quality and secure IT and media services across the university.

This is a full-time, permanent role that presentsthe opportunity to join the fast paced ITMS directorate. This technical role will have the responsibility of helping to improve the cyber security posture of the organisation.

The role will encompass all aspects of cyber security defenses, using various technologiesavailable to proactively monitor and respond to security events, conduct analysis of threats such as malware and intrusion attempts and provide security services to safeguard university systems and data.

There is an emphasis on incident response, vulnerabilitymanagement, configuration of cloud-based security tools including MS365 services and supporting adherence to regulatory requirements.

This is a hands-on technical role that provides the opportunity for collaboration across multiple teams and technologies,to facilitate optimal cyber protection for the university.

This will incorporate both proactive measures and our response to potential threats. The role allows hybrid working practices, allowing both on campus and remote working.


In order to be successful, you will demonstrate previous experience of working in cyber security and possess an excellent understanding of current security technologies and threat vectors.

You will be motivated, resourceful and approachable, have a proactivework ethic and possess excellent communication skills that facilitate engagement with stakeholders in order to improve cyber awareness across the institution.

You will be tenacious, confident and proactive in challenging the accepted view whilst maintaininga positive team approach with colleagues in ITMS and across the wider university, ensuring that staff and students are at the heart of every service delivery.
