Background
Performing planned and reactive, mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance activities across University buildings, facilities and wider estate.


Role Summary


The post holder will work with and supervise the Maintenance Team and contract staff and achieve a high standard of workmanship within a safe working environment.

The Deputy Team Leader will ensure the efficient organisation of the directly employed labour workforce as directed and be responsible for time keeping and good conduct within the team.

The post will include participation in the Management Information Systems including CAFM, Compliance and Common Data Environment.


Main Duties

  • Organise day to day control of resources to include labour, equipment, transport and materials to enable the directly employed labour force to achieve the standards laid out in the Performance Specification.
  • Responsible for the preview, specifying and quantifying of maintenance work for the Management Information Systems as directed by the Team Leaders, Head/Deputy of Maintenance or another senior departmental manager.
  • To ensure accurate and timely completion and certification of information on Planon, Prime, Core systems and other University information management systems.
  • Direct supervision of all staff within the team on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are operated properly in compliance with health and safety legislation and in accordance with the department's code of safe working practices.
  • Assist Team Leader with Statutory and Mandatory and other relevant training for staff within the Maintenance Section including induction training when onboarding new staff.
  • Assist in the identification of the training needs of staff within the group in line with the Division's training policy and reporting them to the Team Leader for inclusion into the department's training program.
  • The post holder will liaise with Team Leaders, Head/Deputy of Maintenance or other senior departmental manager(s) or clients and users directly as needed.
  • Support Maintenance Services preparations for special events program.
  • To provide 'stand in' cover for the Team Leader in their absence as directed by the Head/Deputy of Maintenance or another senior departmental manager.
  • Adhere to University and Estates Office Policies & Procedures.
  • To carry out such other duties as required by the Director of Estates or as instructed on behalf of the same.
