Description

We are looking for a B7 Training Lead to support and train our staff who are working towards State registration and those specialising in Microbiology and Molecular at an advanced level to complete the Specialist Portfolio.


You will work closely with the Microbiology and Molecular Managers to ensure the technical skills and knowledge of the staff produce a safe and effective service for our users.

You will have knowledge of Microbiology and Molecular competencies required to comply with ISO standards 15189.


Although not a management role - technical ability and supervisory skills are needed, to support the service both at Colchester and - on occasion - at Ipswich Hospital.


You will be involved with reporting training compliance to the Pathology Training team, coordinating appropriate training (both in-house and external) for the staff within Microbiology and Molecular, reporting to the department managers, working with the section leads to identify and address any training needs and reporting to the Service Lead as required.

Experience of lone working with Microbiology is an advantage

  • To facilitate the training and development needs for all staff in the Clinical Microbiology / Molecular Service Including Clinical Scientists and Consultant Clinical Scientists but excluding Medical Consultants.
  • Together with the Service Lead for Clinical Microbiology / Molecular be accountable for ensuring that the training and development needs, of all Clinical Microbiology / Molecular staff excluding Consultants are identified, communicated in an effective manner and recorded.
  • Develop and maintain a system of recording training and development that meets as a minimum, ISO 15189: standards for the Clinical Microbiology / Molecular Service.
  • Under the direction of the Microbiology Service Lead where appropriate, will organise training and development for staff of the Clinical Microbiology / Molecular Service and users of its services.
  • In conjunction with Operational Service managers will develop competencies and monitor compliance.
  • Ensure all trainees follow a suitable programme of learning ensuring progress is documented.
