We offer Fabrication, Machining, Fitting, Assembly and Testing facilities, with a floor capacity of 19,200m2, two 5 metre deep manufacturing pits and a lifting capacity of 130 tonnes.

Role Overview:


  • The purpose of this role is to support the Team Leader with the manufacturing unit in achieving plant operational targets, product quality, customer service and health & safety objectives.
  • Provide leadership knowledge and practical skills that ensure the safe and effective delivery of production activities
  • Establish & deliver safe standards of workmanship that comply with relevant health & safety legislation
  • Ensure a high discipline standard is maintained throughout the department, by ensuring that effective time keeping and attendance is maintained

Key Accountability:


  • Participate in team activities, utilising appropriate process, technical and engineering skills to achieve manufacturing, quality and service targets.
  • Actively contributes to all team activities aimed at improving plant performance through implementation of continuous improvement, problem solving, team building and personal selfdevelopment.
  • Suggest improvements to plant, process and operating procedures.
  • Reacts to process, engineering, quality and safety issues as they arise and utilises the knowledge, experience and skills of own and other team members to initiate corrective action.
  • Operates flexibility and safely within the team carrying out activities under direction of the team leader within area of competence, capability and training.
  • Contributes to initiatives related to improving health and safety performance, taking an active part in risk assessment/hazard identification for all operational activities and taking account of appropriate COMAH regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Experience Required / Person Attributes

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds in a Mechanical role or Time served with evidence of ability in the role
  • Strong PC skills and experience of packages such as Excel
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and recognised QC tools
  • Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and rework
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Quality Assurance
  • Overhead crane operator (desirable)
