Description

We are recruiting for a Forget-me-not dementia volunteer coordinator who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This new role provides an exciting opportunity to develop a dedicated team of volunteers within Lister Hospital to enhance the experience of people living with dementia during their hospital stay.

The Forget-me-not Coordinator will assist in recruiting, supporting and coordinating the dementia volunteers.

A key aim of the service is to ensure that what matters most to people with dementia and their families is understood and communicated to those involved with their care; as well as providing social interaction and activities during their hospital stay.

Our Values areInclude,Respect andImprove. It is important that you understand and refer to our values during your recruitment process and beyond

The Forget-me-not volunteer coordinator will work autonomously to develop the dementia volunteer service being supported and line managed by the Admiral Nurse (dementia nurse specialist).

The role involves on-going recruitment, supporting training and coordinating the volunteers to provide a hospital wide service. This will include being the key point of contact for the volunteers during their shift, identifying learning and development opportunities and offering on
- going support throughout. The coordinator will ensure that a variety of activity resources are available for volunteers to offer people with dementia. Promotion of the service will be key to ensure staff in all areas are aware of the availability of dementia volunteers. The coordinator will enable recognition of the Forget me not service brand throughout the Trust. Collating data and providing summary reports to evaluate the service and identify any areas for improvement will be essential.
