Salary:
£20,000 - £22,464 year plus plenty of Benefits (Listed below)

We provide a homely, non-institutional environment to live, for people on the autistic spectrum, with learning disabilities and behaviour that can challenge.

We adopt a person-centred approach to provide very individual tailored care to the clients we support.

You will be asked to do the following:

  • Meeting the personal needs of the individuals living with us during the night time hours, in a way that respects their dignity and promotes their independence.
  • Helping care for the Service Users home environment the undertaking of rostered domestic and laundry duties.
  • Carrying out regular checks on Service Users at intervals determined by the Home Manager, with due regard to the Service Users privacy.
  • Being responsible for the security of the household during the night.
  • Assisting Service Users to bed as part of their regular nightly routine and rising in the morning as required.

Responsibilities will include:


  • To support the Service Users living with us through personcentred approaches to reach their full potential.
  • To have a good understanding of the Service Users needs, especially their Autistic Spectrum Condition and how to meet those needs.
  • To respond to each individual with foresight and flexibility, understanding their behaviour, that others may perceive as challenging.
  • To enable Service Users to achieve independence as far as possible, in all areas of their life, by providing appropriate information, opportunity, advice and support.
  • To support Service Users to communicate effectively, understanding each person's specific communication needs.
  • To work within the context of our Policies and Procedures, guidelines and protocols.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • To support the Service User in the management of their health and wellbeing, and to provide personal care as required.
  • To achieve any reasonable tasks as identified by our Directors, Home Manager or the Person in Charge, in order that Service User and business needs are met.

Essential Skills:


  • Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to promote the dignity and individuality of Service Users and encourage selfindependence and choice.
  • Demonstrate ability to relate professionally and respectfully to Service Users who have autistic spectrum disorders, learning disabilities and complex needs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the level of maturity to undertake the responsibility of the post.
  • Ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively within a staff team and under own initiative when required.
  • Ability to act calmly and appropriately in a crisis.
  • Ability to demonstrate reliability.
  • Ability to work within a specific shift system.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Desirable Skills:


  • Experience in working with adults who have Autistic Spectrum Disorders / Learning Disabilities.
  • QCF Level 2/3 in Adult Health and Social Care or equivalent (NVQ).
  • Full clean, driving licence.
