Rail Technologist:


What you need to know about the role


As a Rail Technologist you will work to ensure live projects are delivered on time and within the client's (internal and external) and departmental budgets.

You will manage and conduct Research & Development activity for the department and identify new opportunities to submit bids and generate future orders.


Representing the business to industrial bodies such as IORW / RIA, as appropriate you will also contribute to the internal audit procedure by leading and assisting with routine internal audits.

e.g. safety audits.


You will assist in delivery of customer technical service work for rail customers and in the delivery of annual departmental objectives.


What we need to know about you


You should be degree qualified in fields of metallurgy, materials science or another engineering discipline, with project management knowledge and proven experience of working to deadlines.

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential.


Membership of a professional organisation such as IoM3 or IMechE would be an advantage as would experience of the rail industry, although this is not essential.
