Do you currently hold a Protection Master (PWT-EH) certificate and a Track Maintenance Safety Critical License T001? Do you hold the licence T002 or do you have, at minimum, a date to attend the course.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Track Chargehand to lead and direct a track maintenance team, working for the Metropolitan Line; you will carry out routine, complex and remedial maintenance tasks on the Line's track and associated assets in accordance with the Company's safety, quality and efficiency targets.


Key accountabilities

  • Assessing local track conditions and briefing his / her gang prior to starting work on task allocation, safety requirements, output required and standards to be achieved;
  • Undertaking track maintenance work and ensuring that work carried out meets required standards for competency, quality and safety and signing off elements of work as being safe for normal operations;
  • Identifying any work necessary on track and associated assets to maintain and improve operational track performance.
  • Cover for own manager in their absence
  • Monitoring the performance of the gang and identifying any training or other needs necessary for a member of staff to achieve the required performance standards;
  • Instructing other members of the gang on correct techniques and methods on any aspect of track maintenance work. Monitoring staff to ensure that PPE is used and that staff comply with safety rules and regulations
  • Liaising with other business units, and contractors for the achievement of work tasks and programmes.
  • Ensuring that staff attendance is managed in accordance with Company policy.
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment are fit for purpose

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Skills

  • Demonstrated analytical and problemsolving skills (Essential)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written (Essential)

Knowledge

  • You will have working knowledge of, track components and track maintenance procedures. (Essential)
  • Hold a Protection Master / PWT-EH certificate and SPC (Essential)
  • Hold current Track Maintenance Safety Critical Licence T002 or be working towards (minimum, date to attend the course) (Essential)
  • Hold current Track Maintenance Safety Critical Licence T001 (Essential)
  • Possess a clean, full driving licence as you may be required to drive Company vehicles on an adhoc basis. (Desirable)

Experience

  • Previous experience of managing small teams (Desirable)
  • You will have proven experience of working in a track environment, with track components and following track maintenance procedures. (Essential)

Additional Information:

Hours: 35 per week (Monday - Friday)

Proof of Licences held will need to be provided at interview stage.

**This is a Safety Critical Role - Occupational Health Clearance will be required.
