Description
Job description

We are looking for a Supporter Relations Assistant who will be a key point of contact for supporters and provide administrative support to the UK team.

You will be the first contact for many of the calls, queries, and connections that are received daily in our London office.

Within your responsibilities, you will be willing to undertake a range of projects and a variety of tasks in any working day.

You will provide support for colleagues, processing gifts, (literature) orders and other admin tasks, as well as prioritising regular tasks of your own.

You will enjoy getting involved in a range of activities - from planning and thinking through systems, to dealing with the daily practicalities of post, phone calls, and welcoming office visitors.

You will enjoy being the "go to" person for practical needs and solutions; and as someone who enjoys systems and structuring activity/information, you will be able to suggest and make improvements to the way the office functions on a day-to-day basis.

You will be part of a small but busy central London office, at the heart of an international Christian mission agency, and be motivated to contribute your ideas and passion to Lifewords vision for sharing the Bible's life words.

ABOUT LIFEWORDS

Lifewords equips and empowers churches and individuals to share the Bible's message with people everywhere - with those living on the world's streets, with young people, those facing life challenges, those caught in sexual exploitation; in prisons, hospitals, schools, and churches; in arts, media, and culture, and more.

For 135 years, Lifewords has been resourcing the Church and reaching the world at large.

A Christian charity based in Waterloo, London, Lifewords works internationally with seven overseas hubs and hundreds of partners.

We are known for Bible resources, literature, projects, and programmes that create ways into the Bible for people in diverse cultures and contexts.

THE ROLE
Working as part of a small team of multi-skilled individuals, the Supporter Relations Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Being a key point of contact for anyone getting in touch with the organisation for any reason.
  • Processing daily incoming and outgoing post.
  • Processing incoming gifts and payments, including "thanking" donors.
  • Processing orders and liaising with our mailing house.
  • Creating and maintaining database records, ensuring that data is entered and tagged correctly.
  • Running regular queries and producing reports on gifts and order data.
  • Helping to ensure the office and office systems run smoothly.
  • Providing cover for regular (daily) tasks such as batching orders (for external warehouse/distributor).
  • Providing administrative support to the UK team.
  • Other duties as required, including (but not limited to), occasional attendance at exhibitions and events, and representing the organisation to the public

You will have:

  • A confident personality and enjoy interacting with a range of people facetoface, by phone, online, or in written communication.
  • A sensitive and caring approach when dealing with supporters.
  • A clear and confident telephone manner.
  • A high standard of written work.
  • A methodical approach to planning and undertaking tasks.
  • Ability to plan and manage your own workload with minimum supervision (after suitable settlingin period).
  • A problemsolving approach to a wide range of queries.
  • Good organisational skills, including the ability to manage (and meet) own deadlines. Must be comfortable handling a number of tasks concurrently.
  • Strong IT skills: able to work with new software and online systems as needed.

Desirable skills include experience using CRM systems (preferably Raiser's Edge), and knowledge and understanding of key office skills and routines.

As part of the team, you will be expected to contribute to the day-to-day organisational functions, e.g., orders, supporter and fundraising admin, and other general tasks.

This may also include attending exhibitions and events, and supporter-facing activities.

All staff members are encouraged to play an active role in the organisation's life and fellowship - including attending staff gatherings and prayers - and to bring their faith experience and passion for the Bible to their role in Lifewords overall mission.

OUR OFFER

Work arrangement and salary:

  • The role is 80% based in our office in Waterloo, depending on tasks/organisational needs.
  • 34 days' annual leave (pro rata), including public holidays and the office closure between Christmas and New Year.
  • Salary: £27,000 per annum (pro rata), plus 10% contribution to pension and life assurance cover.
