Description

Application Support Engineer required in London:

  • Duration -6 months with a scope for extension
  • Salary £32k a year, you will be an employee of Ajilon (Part of the Adecco Group) on an initial 6month fixed term assignment with potential for longer term extension in the future (longevity is normal in this area). You will be rewarded with an annualsalary plus and paid annual leave entitlement.
Markets Platform

Part of the Corporate and Institutional Banking business within the Bank, the purpose of the Markets Platform is to power access to Global Markets, through the energy and focus of brilliant teams.

The platform provides end to end management and developmentof Financial Markets, Capital Markets and Trade services across digital and relationship channels.

Markets Run
The Application Support function is undertaken by four teams organised around the Trade Lifecycle


These teams are:

  • PreTrade
  • Trade Execution and Settlement
  • Intraday Risk
  • EOD Risk, Finance and Reporting???

The core objectives of the Run team are:

  • Optimising allocated Run budget to deliver production support services for Markets customers.
  • Improving customer confidence and satisfaction
  • Improving tools and processes to facilitate operational efficiency
  • Drive platform stability.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Implementing adequate access controls to production infrastructure
  • Implementing adequate Incident, Problem and Change Management procedures for the Platform
The role
Technology

The tech we use includes:

  • OS: Windows, Linux, Solaris
  • Monitoring and alerting (Splunk, NetIQ, Tivoli, Dynatrace)
  • Automation and scheduling (TWS, Jenkins, UrbanCode)
  • Scripting (VBA, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Data: Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres
  • HDFS for storage
  • Cloud for computation
  • HTML5/ReactJS/Kafka/Zuul/Eureka based apps

Essential:

  • Ability to learn new systems, technical and business concepts quickly, sharing knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to handle workload of incident tickets and longer term followup tasks
  • Ability to work under stress and deliver on time
  • Ability to handle or lead BAU projects, working with offshore partners
