Part Time/North London. Hybrid / Our client is a Religious Charity, providing opportunity, community and education from various locations across the UK, with a turnover £6m.

The charity is seeking a
Part Time Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to assist the FD.

The role will be 3 days and can be hybrid (2 days in the North London office and one day at home).

The Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant will work closely with the FD, Administrative Assistant and COO, as follows:

Processing:

  • Payroll: liaise with outsourced agency re employees, HMRC and pension providers;
  • Accounts payable: ensure supplier invoices are approved and timely paid;
  • Staff expenses: ensure authorisation and documentation and pay in a timely manner;
  • Sales ledger: generate sales recharge invoices in a timely manner;
  • Credit control: chase and recover the receipts for sales ledger invoices;
  • Gift Aid: coordinate and assist with Gift Aid claims and submit online to HMRC;
  • Monitor bank accounts and prepare short term cash flow forecasts to ensure adequate funds.

Recording and controlling:

  • Code and import bank transactions into Sage for all branches;
  • Monthly bank reconciliations across branches;
  • Import payroll journals into Sage;
  • Monthly payroll reconciliations and deal with reconciling items.

Management information:

  • Work with the Administrative Assistant to ensure all branches submit data on a timely basis;
  • Support the FD in the preparation of management accounts;
  • Assist budget holders with relevant financial information as required;
  • Provide information for and assist with preparation of long term cashflow forecasts;
  • Support FD in preparing for the annual audit and statutory accounts preparation;
  • Work with the FD to improve systems and processes for financial management and reporting;
  • Prepare ad hoc reports or analysis as directed by the Finance Director.


Seeking a part time role, you should be an experienced Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant with excellent IT skills including advanced Excel.

Sage experience will be useful although not essential. Charity experience would also be useful although not essential.
