About the Role


This is a senior role where you will take the lead on all trade compliance governance, compliance and risk matters.

You will report directly to the General Counsel and have line management responsibility of others within the Compliance team.

You will have a strong background in trade compliance including the processes concerning the import and exporting of goods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that processes related to imports and exports of goods meet the requirements of the Chemring Group Export Control Policy and UK/US Export Control legislation are met.
  • Provide specialist advice as required to ensure project delivery follows internal and external standards/requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that export control is managed effectively and efficiently as well as with regulators. (e.g. UK Department for International Trade, HMRC, US State Department, US Department of Commerce).

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Be conversant with UK export control laws.
  • Experience of managing and administering an export compliance business system (with a thorough understanding of both UK and US export control requirements).
  • Excellent sense of judgment and problem solving skills to be able to interpret and/or analyse complex factual and conceptual information with the ability to interpret/adapt general procedures or approaches when formulating responses to problems/issues.

Desirable (But not a prerequisite to apply)

  • Member of The Institute of Export and International trade
  • Level 4 in International Trade or Higher.

Clearances
Due to the nature of this role, we require you to be eligible to achieve SC or DV clearance. As a result, you should be a British Citizen and have resided in the U.K. for the last 5 years or 10 years or DV Clearance.
