What you will do:

As a Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Specialist you will help to protect and grow Metro Bank by undertaking CDD and subsequent Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD) on our low and medium risk customer base
Work with frontline distribution teams and other Financial Crime (FC) teams to ensure that CDD and ODD is completed effectively, ensuring that the banks records of its customer base remain updated, and any FC risk established is mitigated/escalated accordingly
Work through CDD cases efficiently and effectively ensuring QA and SLA targets are adhered to
Review and establish any control gaps with CDD/ODD case files ensuring FC Risk is managed or escalated to FCRC, Sanctions, AML/CTF investigations as required
Work closely across the business to ensure timely requests are made to customers and business area to enable completion of CDD case work within set SLAs
Independently manage and own case work relating to low and medium risk customers
Maintain your own awareness of key regulatory, legislative and industry updates to ensure you are aware of any anticipated changes to industrywide or bank specific standards
Progressing cases to exit, triaging and escalation of cases to other FinCrime teams when required
Advocate for the CDD team, educating relationship managers and leaders on the importance of FC risk management and the responsibilities they hold in this

What you will need:

Proven experience in carrying out CDD/ODD case reviews on Business and Commercial customers, ideally within a financial services firm or similar
Knowledge and understanding of the legal and regulatory framework including our obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act, the Terrorism Act; the requirements of the money laundering regulations and the guidance provided by the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group
Excellent understanding of Financial Crime including associated risks and red flags to enable you to probe when communicating with customers and assessing information
Strong analytical skills to assess customer information, analyse transactions, and identify red flags
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence to approach senior stakeholders and Relationship Managers
Report writing experience
To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, excellent ability to manage and prioritise your own workload,
Though not essential, if you have an industryrecognised qualification in Financial Crime that would be a bonus
