Description

To assist the Clinical Psychologist in the professional psychological care of children and families within Specialist CAMHS, and specifically within the Forensic CAMHS / TISSHB Therapeutic Intervention for Sexually Harmful Behaviour Service.


  • Providing psychological consultation, assessment and interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist; working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the Specialist CAMHS policies and procedures.
  • To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
To undertake protocol based psychological assessments of children and families under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.

This may require assessing children and their families in a number of settings including clinic, home and school/ childcare setting.


To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's needs, (mental health, learning disabilities and developmental needs), based upon an appropriate framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings, under the supervision of the qualified professional psychologist.

Undertake risk assessments as required under the supervision of the qualified clinical psychologist and to develop risk management plans.


Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a child or family's problems, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, in both community and hospital settings.

To assist in evaluation and decision making about treatment options.

Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services.


Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
